i just got an e-mail from al franken.

it seems his decade is about to begin.

We just received word that the Minnesota State Supreme Court has ruled on Norm Coleman’s appeal. I wanted to let you know right away, the court upheld our victory in a 5-0 decision.

Paul Wellstone said that successful organizing is based on the recognition that people get organized because they, too, have a vision. He also said that politics only has to do with trying to do right by people.

Throughout this campaign we’ve shared a vision of a new direction for our country. We know what we want - an economy that works for everyone, universal health care, and to create new jobs through renewable energy investment. As Senator-elect, I intend to take our shared vision of progress to Washington and try to do right by every single Minnesotan.

meanwhile former senator norm coleman (who said immediately after the election that franken should concede), has conceded

Republican Norm Coleman conceded to Democrat Al Franken in Minnesota’s contested Senate race Tuesday, hours after a unanimous state Supreme Court ruled the former “Saturday Night Live” comedian should be certified the winner.

“The Supreme Court has made its decision and I will abide by the results,” Coleman told reporters outside his St. Paul home.

he’ll abide by the supreme court’s decision. that’s damned sporting of him, don’t you think?

franken has said that he sees himself not the 60th democrat in the senate, but rather, as the 2nd senator from minnesota. he’s a policy wonk who does his homework and knows his core issues inside and out. his political role model was the late sen. paul wellstone, and like wellstone, franken seems to actually care about statecraft and governance.

we’ll see what we see, of course.

in the meantime, the heads of rush limbaugh and bill o’reilly have officially exploded — and the real al franken decade, at long last, is nigh.

Actually, the Al Franken decade has passed. It was the 1980s. I know this because I asked him.

“That’s when my kids were born,” he told me.

Awwwww.

you asked him? what was the question?
