i believe
i believe america is the best hope for the world.
i believe if america doesn’t get it right, no other nation will.
i believe we’re on the end of the diving board, jumping into a future that’s coming, whether we like it or not. the future isn’t fossils fuels or fossil politicians or the way things used to be or the way we wish things were.
the future belongs to those who show up to participate in an honest, intelligent way. it demands a change from what we’ve endured over the last 8 years. it demands we see things how they really are, and how they will be.
whether we like it or not.
ninety percent of winning is showing up.
“Change to Smart, Honest Leadership.”

Agreed!
Looking forward to your unconventional coverage.

Hello from me as well, Victor.

yes, all’s well. I hope the same for yours. The next 70 or so days should provide more interesting drama than the M’s slog. I’m curious to read your take on the emperor’s new candidate. I don’t see much there, but there’s certainly plenty of hoopla.
My vote’s up for grabs. So tell me, why B.O.?

Going, going, gonzo..
Do I know you? You won’t be the alter-ego of an ultra-ego?

Ultra-ego?
I am spaceneedl’s co-contributor and have been since the beginning. The pseudonym goes back to January 2007, a precautionary measure tied to starting a new job.
Sorry, didn’t realize that it’s been that long since you’ve dropped by.

victor, it’s symptomatic that we’re about to hear george bush mentioned repeatedly at the democratic convention, but rarely at the gop convention.
because, as polls indicate, americans are disgusted by the current administration.
mccain, for all his posing to the contrary, is no maverick — he’s voted in lock-step with bush 95% of the time.
obama is a clear break from the policies of the last eight years. more importantly, i believe his vision for the future (alternative energy, healthcare, iraq, fiscal responsibility, etc.) parallels my own, so (with a few exceptions) i’m happy to have him at the top of the democratic ticket.
since we’re on the subject, why would you consider voting for mccain?

I appreciate the reasoned response. A clear break, yes, to be true.
To answer your question; McCain will not cost me what Obama will cost me. Still not reason enough to cast a vote, believing always that you get what you pay for.
I’ve heard all the tie McCain to Bush strategists, I’m not certain it resonates. The path one follows is not necessarily the path one would lead.
You and I both realize this election will not be decided by those who vote party affiliations. This is a swing vote election if there ever was one.
Branding Bush to McCain will not be enough for Obama to win.
I agree with your list of central issues. Identifying and articulating the problems has been Obama’s strong suit and formulating solutions has been and will be his challenge.

interesting. what do you think obama will cost you? are you in the 1% tax bracket for whom obama would roll back bush’s tax cuts?
no matter the answer to that question, what about the difference in continuing to roll up massive deficits and foreign debt (bush/mccain) versus a pay-as-you-go policy?
what about privatizing social security?
what about the list of bush policies that mccain has said he would continue? the list is extensive enough, on issues of importance, to warrant that “3rd bush term” perjorative we’ve heard so often.

Space,
Plenty of business owners pay self employment tax (both sides of SS and medicare), the current cap on the SS portion is just south of $100k. O wants to pick pick up the tax on incomes north of $200k. This plus stepped up brackets and 20% cap gains tax affects far more than 1%.
Massive deficits have much more to do with the ways $ is spent than how its collected.
Private SS is a good thing. Fear and ignorance are bad.
I like the word “perjorative”, I’m holding it for our next pet. I’ll stand outside in the yard shouting the name. Neighbors will think I’m insane and intelligent.
Im open to influence but don’t buy the GBIII scare.

intelligent and insane…
henceforth you might be known as “hannibal victor.”

Gotta go now, I’m having a friend over for dinner.
Time to come in now perjorative, almost time for supper.
