charles krauthammer is an idiot

right-wing tool charles krauthammer isn’t very observant.
he can’t figure out the imagery behind barack obama’s acceptance speech tonight.
under the headline “has he lost his mind?” krauthammer sneers at the staging, described as “Some [greek] columns painted off-white, reminiscent of Washington’s Capitol building or even the White House…”
The Berlin folly — in English. The Superbowl Halftime Show — without the game.
What’s the finish? Maybe Obama’s got Zhang Yimou to do the hidden-rope trick, and have him lifted, Beijing-style, to the heavens when he’s done. Will he reappear three days later at the Bird’s Nest?
Or maybe he’ll just do a Napoleon and coronate himself.
astute analysis, einstein.
or maybe, on the anniversary of martin luther king’s “i have a dream” speech, obama is paying tribute to another significant event in american history. an event that took place in front of the greek columns of the lincoln memorial.
whatta ya think, chuck?

update: all the little right-wingers have received their talking points. tim pawlenty is an excellent parrot…
“This is really about celebrity and not much substance,” said Tim Pawlenty, the Republican governor of Minnesota. “This Roman-like facade, or facade with Roman columns, is a perfect metaphor or icon for the point that it’s an interesting production, but behind it there’s not much there. . . . It’s almost like he wants to come out and be . . . emperor-like in the setting, at least the facade.”

thanks for the h/t. Even if the Republican hacks get the imagery right, they’ll still use it to attack Obama.
He’s comparing himself to the greatest civil rights leader in the history of the United States? The audacity!

Ben Smith’s got this one nailed.
Typical Republican hypocrisy and hyperbole.

Maybe Obama should have had a bunch of US flags in the background. These same idiots would say he was wrapping himself in the flag without even noticing the fact that is what they do.
If this is the biggest criticism they’ve got, christ.
Oh, and who is Tim Pawlenty? I read on the bus he is going to be McCain’s VP. Who?

Speculation, this am, is that mccain he, is tapping Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska as vp running mate. My first reaction is wtf.
Close game, down by two, seconds remain, rather than try for two to tie, a three is launched…shot in the air…looks offline….
