run, bob, run

former gop congressman robert barr to run for president as a liberterian?

yup.

Barr announces Libertarian White House bid

Barr said he was running because there was not “currently or anywhere on the horizon” any candidate who understood the principles of fiscal conservatism and basic principles on which he said America was founded.

His candidacy is a wild card in the White House race that many believe would hurt Republican Sen. John McCain.

“If Senator McCain … does not succeed in winning the presidency … it will be because Senator McCain did not present, and his party did not present, a vision, an agenda, a platform and a series of programs that actually resonated positively with the American people.”

Barr, 59, quit the Republican Party two years ago, saying he had grown disillusioned with its failure to shrink government and its willingness to scale back civil liberties in fighting terrorism.

Sean Hannity — what a joke.

I only saw him on TV one other time (I don’t pay much attention to the talking heads). He was even worse that other time; yelling louder, interrupting more often, etc.

Run Bob Run. It’s the Right’s turn to get Nadered.

[…] Check out this hilarious video: Sean “Dude Where’s My Forehead” Hannity throwing a hissyfit at Bob Barr. […]

tom, i find right-wing talk unlistenable, and right-wing tv unwatchable.

it all has a certain car-wreck fascination to it, i have to admit, but it wears off quickly.

The right-wing doesn’t have the market cornered on unlistenable talk radio, tv, and fishwrap… The left has, CBS News, ABC News, NBC News, CNN, NYT, WaPo, AP, Al Reuters, The View, and so on.

There are a lot of walking-talking punchlines on the right. Bob Barr is now among them. McCain is trying hard (but not for the reasons you think) and House republicans are doing their best.

Our Nader was Ross Perot. Twice. Allowed Clinton (Bill) to win twice with a minority of votes. If Barr becomes the 2008 Perot, it and the following two year race towards higher taxes and increased government spending will be the rallying cry for the GOP to get its act together.

For better (Reagan) or worse (McCain) or much worse (Obama), this democracy will get the government (and the media) it deserves.
