WordPress 2.0?!

WTF?! I have been away much too long from the support and development sites. And here I have been remiss to publish the post-mortem of the 1.5 redesign let alone perform (and write) it. Guess I’ll have to do it soon if tfloss is to go 2.0 anytime in the next six months. But what I cannot find are the features of 2.0. Anybody?

To answer myself. There doesn’t seem to be any documentation atop Google or wordpress.org on the new feature set of 2.0 (or maybe it really is an overhyped 1.6), but five minutes of click’n'trial revealed:

  • Oh, WYSIWYG drafting?! Very nice.
  • Category addition on the fly?

Hopefully, the first eliminates the need for a draft blog. And, hey!, I guess the second nixes the comprehensive, never need another ever again category set I spent weeks massaging. Its usage is cumbersome and too general, allowing posts to be subject to more than too many categories. That’s life, though. Oh, well, I never even got a chance to work with the Tag plug-in, which I very much like using with my TiddlyWiki. Wait… (thinking out loud as if you didn’t notice) maybe tfloss can use tags to drill down from the generalness of the category set.

Guess it is time to start thinking about tfloss 2.0 but I like to think of that as vaporgrading. :)

Wordpress 2.0 is 1.6, so features are listed here (Wordpress Codex).
However, I still don’t get how they want to implement all these features against december 26st. Only seven on the wiki page are yet crossed out?!

Thanks, JW. Serves me right for searching “WordPress 2.0″.
